ZBOJNICKA CHATA

(‘ZBOY-nit-ska KHA-ta’)

Located in the spectacular upper part of the valley Velka Studena dolina, this chalet hides behind the Zbojnicky chrbat (‘Robber’s Ridge’), close to several tarns. It is a well-situated stop-over for hikers coming from the valley Velicka dolina through Polsky hreben to Prielom, or for those passing from the valley Mala Studena dolina through the saddle Priecne sedlo to Velka Studena. The chalet’s 1907 structure was refurbished in 1984, and is open year round.

The Zbojnicka chata burned to a cinder on 14 June, 1998. The chalet, having been destroyed by fire, was re-opened in the year 2000, and now provides both sleeping accomodation and food service.
