The Tatras Cableways
The rich history of special transportation in the High Tatras unquestionably
relates to the eternal human dream of reaching the highest peaks.
The Tatras Cableways, which form a part of Slovak Republic
Railways, consist of three different types of special cable-car
transports in the High Tatras region, which help bring this
dream to life.
These are the
land-based incline plane between Stary Smokovec
and Hrebienok, and two aerial tramways starting in Tatranska
Lomnica. The detachable-cabin cableway
runs through the way-station Start up to Skalnate Pleso; and the
large-cabin cableway runs,
in Section 1, through Start up to Skalnate Pleso, and in Section 2
from Skalnate Pleso to the top of the peak Lomnicky Stit.
