Historic town hall and shrine of st.James.
Levoca is one of the most beautiful towns of the Spis region and perhaps of the whole of Slovakia. The cathedral church of St Joseph's was reconstructed from the historical remains of the former church that was destroyed by fire in 1550 into what is now a fine example of a perfectly preserved which dominates the renaissance complex of the town hall and the house of Thurzo. In the city square the visitor can also see the house of Master Paul of Levoca, the most famous medieval artist of the Spis Region. He was the creator of the unique 18.6 m tall wooden altar in St Joseph's Church considered to be the tallest and most important example of this type in Europe. Also to be seen in the town hall is 16th century "cage of disgrace".
