Military Centre for Lung and Respiratory Disorders
Nová Polianka (now open to the public)
This once-exclusively army facility originally addressed the military's
needs for tuberculosis treatment, starting in 1956. Gradually, even as
tuberculosis dramatically decreased, other respiratory ailments (including
allergic) took on greater priority. The Centre's experts have readily
adapted to such changing conditions since 1964.
While it is one of the Slovak army's top facilities, its therapy is now
available to all Slovak citizens. Foreign clientele, too, can upon request
arrange to be treated here.
The Centre provides complex therapeutic care for all respiratory
conditions, including tubercular and oncologic complications. Apart from
managing typical breathing disorders, it performs diagnostics and
treatment of allegic and immunological conditions; and offers complex
therapy, not just for breathing but for all types of movement. All this is
also applicable in situations post-surgical, and post-traumatic damage to
chest and abdomen.
